Luxcam launches unique mobile workshop in the country

LUXCAM, the official dealer of Volkswagen Trucks and Buses, has recently unveiled an innovative mobile workshop that promises to revolutionize the way vehicle maintenance is approached in Argentina. This unique service, launched during an event at their headquarters in Moreno, aims to provide efficient technical assistance directly to customers, eliminating the need for vehicles to be transported to a fixed workshop. According to LUXCAM's president, Diego Vega, this initiative is more than just a service; it’s a commitment to collaborate with customers who are not merely buyers, but integral partners in the transportation industry.

Innovative Mobile Workshop Design and Features

Vega emphasized that the new mobile workshop is the first of its kind in the country, boasting comprehensive equipment and high availability. This vehicle, built on a Delivery 11.180 truck, is designed to ensure comfort for the technicians who operate it, even providing a space for them to rest during their work hours. “This mobile workshop is ready to address any issues and unforeseen circumstances that arise,” Vega stated, highlighting its versatility.

The primary function of this mobile workshop is to minimize the downtime of trucks by bringing maintenance services directly to their location. This approach allows fleets to remain operational and ready for the road, a crucial aspect for businesses relying on timely deliveries.

Services Offered by the Mobile Workshop

The mobile workshop is equipped to perform a variety of tasks, including:

  • Oil and filter changes
  • Electronic diagnostics
  • Preventive maintenance with fault scanning
  • Fluid and light level checks
  • Minor adjustments without dismantling complex components
  • Tire pressure and condition verification

Upon completing the maintenance work, customers receive a technical report. Should additional operations be necessary that cannot be performed on-site, an appointment will be arranged at the dealership’s workshop.

Specifications of the Mobile Workshop Vehicle

The mobile workshop utilizes a Delivery 11.180 truck that is powered by a 3.8-liter Cummins engine, delivering 175 horsepower and a torque of 600 Nm. It features a 6-speed transmission and is designed for excellent maneuverability, allowing it to reach remote areas with ease.

Key physical features of the workshop include a semi-thermal body with secure access doors, a hydraulic side door for easy access, and workbenches both inside and outside the vehicle. Additionally, it contains cabinets for the organization and transport of spare parts and tools.

Technological Resources Integrated into the Workshop

The technological resources of the mobile workshop are impressive, including:

  • Rotary air compressor for tire inflation and pneumatic tool use
  • 220V/5.5 KVA electric generator for operating tools and equipment
  • Computerized diagnostic system for error reading and system calibration
  • Automatic lubricant dispenser
  • Specialized tools
  • Manual winch for lifting and handling heavy components

Moreover, the security measures implemented include surveillance cameras, satellite tracking, and mobile internet access, ensuring constant communication with the base.

Staff and Management of the Mobile Workshop Services

The maintenance tasks will be conducted by two highly qualified technicians: a senior multi-specialist in service and a senior service specialist. The mobile unit is designed to deploy laterally, similar to a camper, creating a space that includes a fully equipped kitchen and a heated area with two bunks for the technicians’ rest.

The service management operates through a centralized system. Customers can request assistance by calling 11 5263-9991 (OP 4) from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After contacting, personalized visits will be coordinated, and the workshop truck will travel to the required location. Additionally, scheduled routes will be established throughout Buenos Aires, allowing customers to anticipate the times and locations where maintenance and assistance services will be available.

The Vision Behind the Mobile Workshop

In a conversation following the event, Diego Vega shared that the concept of a mobile workshop had been in consideration since the inception of the dealership in 2016. However, bringing this vision to life necessitated overcoming various structural and financial challenges. The feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive, which Vega cites as a driving force behind every decision made at LUXCAM.

Future Developments and Projects

Vega also announced plans for a new service unit, this time mounted on a 4×4 Delivery truck equipped with a track system. This vehicle will be tailored for operation in challenging terrains, such as snow or mud, and is set to serve mining and oil fields in the south of the country and in the Andes mountain region.

Showcasing New Capabilities: Volkswagen Constellation

To conclude the event, LUXCAM’s commercial manager showcased the Volkswagen Constellation 33.260 truck, featuring a second steering axle. This model highlights the robust capabilities within the Volkswagen truck lineup, catering to various needs in the transportation sector.
