“In the future, we aim to have at least one representative model from each brand to facilitate comparisons,” says Alejandro Marfil Rico, a 14-year-old enthusiast and son of Jesús Marfil, who co-manages the family business alongside his brother Antonio. Founded in 1996, Transmarfil currently operates a fleet of approximately 55 refrigerated trucks, marking a significant presence in the industry.

“The Scania 143 M became emblematic in Spain during the mid-90s, available in two versions: a more old-school look and a slightly modernized version, which is the one we have here,” Alejandro explains. “People gravitated towards this model because it was sturdy for work, while also providing the prestige of owning a Scania, which was pricier compared to others at the time.”

Having just completed the second year of secondary education, Alejandro captivates with an impressive depth of knowledge for his age. His fascination with trucks is evident, as is his ambition for the future.

“My mother encourages me to fulfill all my dreams but insists on finishing my degree first,” Alejandro shares. His bond with his father is particularly strong. “Since I was a child, riding shotgun in his truck, I’ve been inspired by him. The first time he let me drive alone was when I was 11. He’s my role model, and my parents do everything for me.”

“When we got it, it came with mismatched fairings, some rust, and missing parts, but it was operational, which was the most important aspect,” Alejandro recalls. “We decided to give it a Dutch style, which we think best defines the essence of the truck. I was very young when we got it; I remember thinking, ‘Dad, it’s in terrible shape.’”

Over time, the Scania 143 M has undergone significant transformations. The Marfils installed a new mask and fairing, complete with updated headlights and taillights. “At Pinturas Roberto, it gradually gained elegance with a striking red and white finish, without any vinyl. What I love most about this truck is its rear view, with its chimneys and that distinctive black characteristic of the Holland Style.”

“If you tweak the fuel pump a bit, you can enhance its performance and produce a more dramatic exhaust effect,” Alejandro explains. “Our next project is a Mercedes truck, which we’ll be discussing soon because, at Transmarfil, every truck belongs to everyone.”
