Isuzu 4HK1 (Tier 3) Fault Code P0340
Fault Code P0340 Cam sensor fault (no signal)
Item To Be Detected:
Open circuit in sensor/wiring
Preconditons When DTC is Set:
1) Key switch input voltage is 18V or more.
2) Crank pulse is normal.
3) DTC P0335, P0336, P0340, P0341, P1345, or P1635 is not detected.
4) Engine is running.
DTC Set Condition:
Crank signal exists but no cam signal.
Fault Judgement Period:
When trouble occurs 7 out of 8 samples.
Behavior When Trouble Occurs:
1) Behavior does not change during engine running.
2) After engine stalls, engine will not start.
3) Back-up: Engine running based on crank when it is normal.
4) After engine stops: Unable to identify cylinder (unable to start)
Diagnosis Lamp: ON
Recovery From Failure: *1
Possible Causes:
1) Looseness or play in the CMP sensor.
2) Looseness or play in the connection between the ECM, CMP sensor, and the coupling connector.
3) Scratch or damange to the CMP sensor.
4) Open circuit, high resistance, or short circuit to ground between the ECM and CMP sensor.
5) Short circuit to power supply circuit or ignition power supply circuit.
6) Bad CMP.
7) Fault in the camshaft gear.
8) Bad supply pump.
9) Bad ECM.
