Isuzu 4HK1 (Tier 3) PID 151 Fault Code P0089 Common rail pressure fault (excessive pressure feed in pump)

Item To Be Detected:
Common rail pressure abnormal increase

Preconditons When DTC is Set:
1) Key switch input voltage is 18V or more.
2) DTC P0089, P0192, P0193, or P1635 is not detected.
3) Coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or more, and 375 rpm or more.
4)Duty to SCV is 40% or more, or SCV target pressure feed is 90 mm3/sec (0.0055cu⋅in/sec) or less.

DTC Set Condition:
Actual rail pressure is 40 MOa (5802 psi) or more higher than target rail pressure.

Fault Judgement Period:
Approx. 5 sec.

Behavior When Trouble Occurs:
1) Intense engine vibration, rough idling, output lowering, blow up fault, black smoke emitted, and excessive output are possible.
2) Back-up: Limited injection amount 3 (multiinjection stopped) Target RP upper limit (80 MPa {11603 psi})

Diagnosis Lamp: ON

Recovery From Failure: *1

Possible Causes:
1) SCV harness connector terminal has poor contact.
2) ECM harness connector terminal has poor contact.
3) Common rail pressure sensor harness connector terminal has poor contact.
4) Common rail needing replacement.
5) Supply pump needing replacement.
6) Damaged harness inbetween ECM and common rail pressure sensor.
