Isuzu 4HK1 (Tier 3) Fault Code P0088 Common rail pressure fault (1st & 2nd stage)

Item To Be Detected:
Common rail pressure abnormal increase.

Preconditons When DTC is Set:
1) Key switch input voltage is 18V or more.
2) DTC P0088, P0192, P0193, or P1635 is not detected.
3) Actual rail pressure is 2 MPa (290 psi) or more, and 70 rpm or more.

DTC Set Condition:
1st stage: Rail pressure is more than 185 MPa (26832 psi)
2nd stage: Common rail pressure fault (1st stage) is completed, and rail pressure is more than 190 MPa (27557 psi).

Fault Judgement Period:
Approx 5 sec.

Behavior When Trouble Occurs:
1) Intense engine vibration, rough idling, output lowering, blow up fault, black smoke emitted, and excessive output are possible.
2) Back-up: Limited injection amount 3 (multi-injection stopped) Target RP upper limit (80 MPa {11603 psi})

Diagnosis Lamp: ON

Recovery From Failure: *1

Possible Causes:
1) Air bleeding may not have been performed sufficiently.
2) Broken or twisted fuel return between supply pump and fuel tank.
3) Break or clog in vent of fuel tank.
4) Foreign matter in the fuel tank.
5) Common rail needing replacement.
